FFL Transfers
Buying a firearm online or from out of state? At Hilltop Sports & Hilltop Arms, we make it easy to receive it through a Federal Firearms License (FFL) transfer.
The Basics
What is an FFL transfer?
An FFL transfer is the lawful movement of firearm possession between licensed dealers, or to a qualified individual. Under federal law, any firearm shipped across state lines has to go through a licensed FFL dealer — that's where we come in.
How It Works
Five steps, start to finish.
- 01Purchase the firearmChoose your firearm from an online dealer, auction site, or another FFL, and list Hilltop Sports as the receiving FFL.
- 02Request our FFLEmail the seller's contact information and your transfer request to firearms@hilltopsports.com. We'll send over our FFL to authorize the shipment.
- 03Notify the storeGive us your full name, a contact number, a description of the firearm, and the sender's name.
- 04Wait for confirmationWe'll contact you once your firearm arrives and is logged in.
- 05Complete the transfer in storeBring a valid government-issued photo ID, complete ATF Form 4473, and pass a NICS background check.
NFA Items
Suppressors, SBRs and other NFA items.
Suppressors, short-barreled rifles, and other NFA-regulated items have extra requirements — a Form 4 application, fingerprints, photos, and ATF approval, which can take several months. The rules around NFA tax stamps changed in 2026, so check our NFA Changes page for the latest before you start.
Fees & Policy
What it costs, and the fine print.
- Transfer fee: $45 per item.
- Pickup: within 14 days of arrival.
- Unclaimed items: after 30 days, may be returned to the sender or added to our inventory.
- Denied background check: the $45 transfer fee still applies.
